How to Setup Lot Serial Structure – Visual As Built

Information:

The Visual As-Built allows you to create lot and serial structures to provide for a complete lot and serialized build traceable in the MAX system.

This is necessary when you have a serialized parent on a shop order and you need to link the serial number of components to each individual parent serial number for absolute lot and serial structures.

Preliminaries:

  • Review Lot Tracking System Configuration Options in the System Manager.
  • Place all parts in the BOM structure where traceability is needed under Lot and Serial control > Bills of Materials > Activity > Part Master > Inventory Tab
    • Lot Control/Serial Control

Procedure:

1) Perform Purchase Receipts and Assign Lot and Serial Numbers in those Transactions.

a) When performing the receipt and you are prompted for the Lot and Serial information you may need to create the Lot and Serial number or if you are auto-assigning you may accept the numbers provided by MAX.

b) Use the Disposition field to enter additional data about the Lot/Serial or you may also use this field for the manufactures serial number (full tracability).

2) Perform the Issue transactions of components to the Shop Order thus assigning the Lot/Serial numbers of the components to the work order.

a) Note: At this point you have the component serial numbers dis-associated with the parent part. This will be remedied by creating the Lot Structure in the Visual As-Built screen after you have completed the work order.

3) Perform a Receipt to Stock of the Work Order and assign the Lot and Serial Numbers to the pieces being received.

4) Once the Issues and the Receipts are done you may create the As Built.

5) In Inventory Control Module > Activity > Visual As Built do the following:

a) In the left hand pane search the Work Order Receipt

b) Select the Serial Number from the grid

c) In the Right hand pane select the issued components for the same work order associated with the parent.

d) Click the Issue transaction selecting the row

e) Click the row and make sure it is highlighted

f) Hold down the left shift key and the right mouse button and drag the issue transaction over the parent serial number in the structure workspace. When the pointer changes then lift the right mouse button to create the structure.

i) The bar linking the parent an component lot/serial structure will remain red until saved.

6) Once you have created the structure it will be available through the As-Built configuration screen and the Recall Manager.
