How to Add Parts and Product Structures in Exact MAX ERP

Outline:

  • Add Parts and Part Specific Information
  • Add Bills of Materials
  • Add new routing for the top level part to automatically roll the labor cost from the routing.
  • Recalculate Low Level Codes
  • Roll the Cost for the new Assembly

Open Bill of Materials Module

1) Open the MAX system manager.

2) Click the Engineering Tab

3) Select the Bill of Materials Module

Add Parts:

Note: If adding an entirely new bill of material you will need to add all the part first so you will need to add part specific information on all the tabs in the Part Master screen.

1. Select Activity – Part Master

2. Click Master Tab

3. Add the Part ID and Description

4. Enter Part Type Code

a. “A” for top level assemblies or mid-level manufactured assemblies.

b. “B” for purchase parts

c. “M” for Master Scheduled etc.

5. Enter primary stock id.

6. Click Inventory Tab and enter the Weight and Weight UOM.

7. Click on the Accounting Tab and enter the material cost on the “B” Part types.

8. “A” part types are automatically costed – this means the cost roll up will calculate the cost.

9. Always enter cost type “M” for Purchased Parts and enter the Material cost per unit.

10. Repeat the above steps for all parts that are new and going to be added to this new Bill of Materials

11. Open the Visual BOM by selecting Activity – Visual BOM

12. Select your top level item in the upper right windows (Part Master).

13. Double Right Click to place it in the left pane of the Visual BOM.

14. To build your BOM you select and search for parts in the upper right part master window and then drag and drop the parts to the left Visual BOM window.

15. To drag and drop you first select (click the icon – in the upper right part master window, it becomes shaded) – hold down your left shift key and then put your mouse over the selected part – hold down your right mouse button and drag the part over the part in the left pane you are going to add it to.

16. Once you have completed building the BOM then go to Batch Recalculate Low Level Codes
