How to Process an ECR/ECO in MAX

1) Log into MAX

2) Click on the Engineering Tab in the System Manager

3) Click on the ECO Module

4) Verify internal processes and codes by selecting Tools / Edit Codes – Verify your internal processes and procedure and all default codes to ensure these meet your internal processes and approvals.

5) ECRs (customer service and sales personnel / others)

a. Click Activity – New – ECR

b. Give a title and fill in all details and notes for the ECR.

c. Select the Distribution List (note: entering distribution list for ECRs and ECOs in your email system facilitates the notifications needed to act on both ECRs and ECOs)

d. From Activity select email send the notification email for those concerned. This gives them an alert that there is a new ECR in the system that must be addressed.

e. Once the ECR has reached the Approved Awaiting ECO, select Activity – Create ECO to Convert the ECR to an ECO.

f. Note: An ECR is not required to create an ECO.

6) ECO

a. Click Activity – New – ECO

b. Fill in details to the ECO from the various drop downs in the ECO main screen.

c. Click the Save button to Save the New ECO.

d. Click Parts to Add or Select existing part in MAX

i. New parts open an additional dialog to allow you to select the part defaults.

ii. Note: Part Defaults are configured on the Tools menu. Selecting a prefix by Commodity code allows ECO to sequence the part numbers for you including the specified prefix.

e. Click the BOM tab to include all or some of the components on an existing assembly or to add new ones.

f. Add or include routing steps from the Routings tab.

g. Add documents from the documents tab.

h. Select approvals from the users in the Approvals tab to select which ECO users will need to be and approver the ECO.

i. Add Hours and Review the Tasks for the ECO

j. Save the ECO once you have made your changes.

k. From Activity – email choose to email the ECO to alert others/approver that review or approval is required for the ECO.

l. Once the ECO is approved through the acceptance phase. The ECO can be released and MAX can be updated with the New changes and effective dates.

m. From Activity select Release ECO

n. Select the Effective Date

o. Select to send an email notification that the ECO has been released.
