MAX does not play well with Collation Sequences other than the default collation. After a lot of troubleshooting failure was due to the Collation having a BIN or binary sort. MAX would not connect to the instance. It failed over and over – SQL kept saying sa was denied access – ?? anyways, I installed a named separate instance using the default collation and all was well.
Rule:
- Always check the Collation – you can’t switch for GP only Bulk Export and Import to bring it in line
- I had to install the old collation for GP because I did not want to do the bulk export + not supported by MS – truly is the right thing to do but I think you understand.
- MAX does not like the Binary sort and will not authenticate to SQL.
